We are so excited to use the funds from the Chris Nelson Memorial Fund
to supply our first and second grade students tools
for them to come together in a JBES Village Activities Center
where they will playfully learn through tactile, hands-on projects
that will provide them the skills to become successful lifelong learners.

Josiah Bartlett Elementary School (JBES) is a small rural K-8 school in the heart of the Mount Washington Valley in Bartlett, NH. Our school opened its doors in 1790 to 15 students and one teacher and has since grown to its current size of just under 200 students and 45 staff members. We have a full time Kindergarten, and share our amenities with a Preschool and school/public library.

We are at the cusp of a redesign of our school structure. Soon, we will become ‘villages’ of student groups; thus the name for our project - Village Activity Center. The villages will contain multi-age groupings of K-2, 3-5 and our Middle School (6-8). Our project will be specifically directed towards our younger Villagers, first and second graders.

Using hardware funds from the grant we are purchasing the Lego StoryStarter Classroom Pack,  Community Mini-figure Set, and Build Me Emotions. Supplementing this we are also getting the LittleBits STEAM and Gizmos and Gadgets Kits and a 3-D printer. Joining us will be our BeeBot robots that are already 'living' at our school.

We invite you to share in our journey.
Please share your ideas, thoughts and comments to help us make this
the BEST learning experience ever for our students.
